Our mission
To develop Systems and Synthetic Biology approaches in Brazil to understand life and to construct microorganisms for novel applications.
The Group
​
The Systems and Synthetic Biology Group is formed by two core unities. The Synthetic Biology Core is based at the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology at FMRP-USP and is headed by Prof. Rafael Silva-Rocha. The Metagenomics Core is based at the Department of Biology at FFCLRP-USP and is headed by Prof. María Eugenia Guazzaroni. Both unities, while physically separated, work together to generate novel application combining metagenomics and synthetic biology.
